Tomotherapy vs. Cyberknife

Why should I choose TomoTherapy® for my Treatment?

TomoTherapy® is the latest radiation technology for cancer patients. Equipped with 3D technology, it allows doctors to target even the most complex of cancers with pinpoint accuracy by mapping a 360-degree pattern around the treatment area. Unlike other technologies, TomoTherapy® can treat multiple tumors of varying size and complexity all at once, without a single surgical incision.

  TOMOTHERAPY® CYBERKNIFE™
Conventional Radiation Therapy: Conventional Radiation Therapy is used for the treatment of most cancers including breast, prostate, lung, pancreas, etc.
Stereotactic Treatment: Stereotactic Treatment for cancer includes a single session of treatment with a high dose of radiation typically used to treat some brain cancers and cancers of the central nervous system.
3D View: Allows doctors to see the treatment area in 3D at the time of the procedure, ensuring patients receive the most accurate and precise treatment.
Daily Verification: Daily CT images to verify the size, shape or location of the tumor and other body changes that naturally occur from day to day, such as bladder and stomach contents.
Average Treatment Times: Shorter treatment times result in less stress and discomfort for the patient as well as better reliability for patient positioning during each treatment. Under 15 minutes 30-60 minutes
Minimally Invasive Treatments: Treatments do not require the insertion of permanent gold seeds or metal markers into the patient for the machine to detect the target area. For example, for the treatment of prostate cancer, metal markers would be injected into the prostate gland so the machine can detect the tumor. TomoTherapy does not require the invasive insertion of metal markers for any type of treatment.
Treats Recurrent Tumors and Metastases: Treats tumors that have grown back after previous treatments and well as cancer that has spread to other organs.
Accurate Treatment of Small Tumors: Tumors smaller than the size of a plum.
Accurate Treatment of Large Tumors: Tumors larger than the size of a plum.
Multiple Treatments: Ability to treat multiple tumors during one treatment session.
Effective Treatment for Mesothelioma: Treates cancers that have spread into the lining of the lung, including Mesothelioma, an asbestos-related cancer of the lining of the lung.
